Biotherm's Skin Best Wonder Mud is a mud mask, and was launched earlier this year. I've had this for awhile, and finally got around to reviewing it, after a few months! Well I guess better late than never right? (Ignore the crickets chirping, will you, LOL.) Anyway, Biotherm's Skin Best Wonder Mud claims to have the antioxidant Astaxanthin to combat dullness, as well as Ghassoul mineral clay to absorb oil and impurities. As the website eloquently puts it, "antioxidant superpower (Astaxannthin) has 100X more antioxidant than Vitamin E and Ghassoul clay are combined to form a mask that truly combats city toxins, grime and free radicals that attack our skin every day". Sounds exciting, right?


What's interesting about the Skin Best Wonder Mud is also its application method. Unlike traditional masks where you leave it on for anywhere from 15-30 minutes, the Wonder Mud mask is designed to be a quick fixer-upper for your skin that can be used in a few minutes - in fact, Biotherm recommends 3 minutes, so that you can use it even if you are in a rush. Basically, you apply the mask to your skin, let it sit on your skin for 3 minutes, and then you rinse it off, massaging the mask as you do so to get the exfoliating effect of the "crushed apricot stones". Biotherm recommends using the mask twice a week.

So, we do have a pretty interesting product to look at today, and we'll also look closer at the Astaxanthin in the product. So, let's begin with my favourite thing - a look at the ingredients list. I didn't have a copy of the ingredients list with me, but fortunately a bit of googling turned up the ingredients list, so here we go!

Biotherm's Aquasource Everplump is the latest moisturizer to be launched from the brand. According to Biotherm, this isn't just any old moisturizer. As the name suggests, it's a plumping moisturizer, with a "highly dense gel texture so plumping even fine lines are pushed away", and "a single application delivers 72hrs of hydration".


The idea behind the plumping claim in the Aquasource Everplump is is that as you age, the plumpness and volume in your skin decreases, leading to a more aged appearance. So, products like the Aquasource Everplump can help restore some of the plumpness lost over time. Biotherm also claims that this can be used around the eye area, and is also suitable for sensitive skin.

Biotherm's Aquasource Evermoist CC Cushion SPF 23 PA++ is the first cushion product to come from Biotherm, and it arrives hot on the heels of the cushion trend! Biotherm is better known for its skincare products, in particular its Life Plankton Essence, which I've reviewed before, so this was definitely a little of a surprise, but it's not at all unwelcome!


The Biotherm Aquasource Evermoist CC Cushion is meant to have a light, airy texture, and also meant to give you an "unbeatable moist glow" with full coverage. That definitely sounds like what every cushion base should be! And in true Biotherm fashion as a skincare brand, it also contains the brand's signature Life Plankton, as well as Adenosine, and a bunch of other skincare ingredients.

I have to thank the Biotherm people for being so kind as to send me the photograph of the ingredients list! The press kit I received had gorgeous special packaging, which unfortunately meant that I didn't have the ingredients list. But they were nice enough to send it to me, so I can get my nerd on, haha. Biotherm's Life Plankton Essence was launched last year, and is billed on the Biotherm website as a "Fundamental Skin Treatment". The description for the product goes on to say, "For the first time, Life Plankton is infused at its highest concentration within Life Plankton Essence (5% for anyone wondering). In 8 days, see and feel a new-born skin: more radiant, more even, smoother, hydrated, with greater resilience and fine lines faded. Immediately, the skin is soothed and softened." So essentially, this is a lotion-style essence product, with a high concentration of Life Plankton. This is meant to be used before other skincare products, like moisturizer.


The Biotherm Life Plankton Essence was launched end of last year to much fanfare and raves, and this year has continued to get a steady stream of attention from both mainstream press and bloggers. So I figured it's probably a good time for me to finally get around to reviewing it! How does this product work, and what is inside the product? What is this Life Plankton, anyway?

To answer those questions and more, there's only one place to start looking - the ingredients list! Biotherm has also very kindly helped to answer a few of my questions on the product, to fill in some of the gaps and questions I had when analysing the ingredients list, and I'm really happy that they did - I mean, I'm just a random blogger, not Anna Wintour or anything, and I'm sure the PR people have lots on their plate, so I really appreciate it when I get to ask questions and they get answered! For this review though, I've incorporated some of the answers into my review, rather than having them as a separate standalone section, in order to keep the length of the review shorter and the flow less disjointed, but where the information has been provided by Biotherm, you'll see me mention it (e.g. "Biotherm/the company/the brand informed me that" or something similar).
